The user is responsible for the safe handling and use of a gas cylinder and its contents. A risk assessment should be carried out prior to any movement, handling or lifting of cylinders taking place. The risk assessment should take account of the physical capabilities of the individuals involved.
All movement of cylinders or bundles must be thoroughly planned, assessed, controlled and executed by a person(s) that is competent. This information sheet, issued by the British Compressed Gases Association (BCGA), provides information on the different options that may be available to safely move cylinders and bundles over suitable surfaces.
